Obituary of Mary-Costello Allen


July 17, 2005 Mary Costello Allen, 93, of Oswego, passed away July 17, 2005. Born in Syracuse on January 2, 1912, to David F. and Lena (Carlisle) Costello. David F. Costello was one of the founding partners of the Syracuse Law Firms of Costello, Cooney, and Fearon. Mary Frances Costello married Charles S. Allen on September 9, 1939, in Syracuse. They were the parents of six children. Predeceased by her husband and son Charles Ellery Allen. After retirement she and her husband Charles became expert weavers, producing many beautiful woven products. Their hobby grew into a small business called Warp and Weave. Survived by her children: David (Mary) Allen of Fayetteville; Daniel (Joan Kolp) Allen of Oswego; Marjory (George) Perez of Lyons; Joanna (Archie) Nelson and Laura (Thomas) Donovan both of Oswego. Ten grandchildren, Julie Cecile, Kathleen Allen, Matthew Allen, Andrew Allen, Christopher Nelson, Jennifer James, Jennifer Lavan, Mary Donovan, Mark Donovan, Heather Ainsworth, and 11 great-grandchildren. Services 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church. Calling hours 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation/or charity of one's choice.
