Had worked at Lahey ClinicNEWTON, Mass. ; Mary (Jennings) Carter, 85, a lifelong Newton resident, died May 5, 2009 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington.Born and raised in Newton, she graduated from Newton High School and was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Newton Corner.She had worked for Raytheon in Waltham before her marriage and later worked as a medical receptionist in the Electrocardiogram and Cardiology departments at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Carter; and two brothers, Harold and David Jennings.Survivors include three sons, Steven and his wife Carole of Newton, William A. of Hayfield, Minn., and Ken of Sanbornton, N.H.; a daughter, Laurie Wolfe of Newton; seven grandchildren, John Robert, Kathleen, Christine, Susanne, Mackenzie, Nicholas and Sarina; a sister, Ethel Yukes of Newton; one brother, Sam Jennings of Maine; many nieces and nephews. She also leaves many cherished friends and co-workers at Lahey Clinic.A funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 76 Eldredge St., Newton Corner, on Friday, May 8, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Woman's Club of Newton Highlands Scholarship Fund, c/o Mildred McMullin, 169 Dickerman Rd. Newton MA 02461.
