Mary Elizabeth Faulkner Carter - SAVANNAH - Mary Elizabeth Faulkner Carter, 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Quitman Carter. Elizabeth was born in Lula, Ga., and was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School in Clermont, Ga. She lived in Savannah, Ga., at 334 Stephenson Ave, for over 60 years before moving to Greenville, SC in 2001. She was a homemaker and also worked in the family business, J.Q. Carter and Son Furniture Company. She was a very active member of Memorial Baptist Church, and had served as President of the Baptist Women for many years. She is survived by three sons: Larry Carter and wife Bobbie of Montgomery, Al; Jerry Carter and wife Theresa, of Greer, SC; and Frank Carter of Savannah, Ga; three sisters, Viola Dorsey of Athens, Ga; Betty Gaines and Jackie Scott both of Fayetteville, Ga; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Fairhaven Funeral Home - Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga 31406. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Carolyn Cubbedge officiating. Interment: will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
