Obituary of Mary Carter

(MOBLEY) CARTER, MARY, Mary has passed from human to everlasting life with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, this day, August 19, 2006. Mary was born November 4th, 1913 into a pioneer farming family of eight children outside of Live Oak, FL in Suwannee County. She was a true Farmers Daughter, learning that hard work and true faith would make her life have meaning to herself and to others. Being the oldest daughter she was responsible for the care of her siblings, learning to cook and care for them and learning how to take care of the family she would have. The stories she could tell about plowing with a mule, butchering animals on the farm and crop planting, tobacco and cotton harvesting and other old Florida farm life amazed and astonished anyone that met and listened to her as she would tell stories of her early days. She was a true Florida Cracker and lived an amazing and wonderful life she would always tell people that she met, seeing things that came from the development of electricity and telephone to cars and airplane travel. She married her husband George at the ripe age of fifteen and they had eight children. She lost one child G.B. in infancy; husband George in 1972 and son James in 2001. She is survived by daughters Mary Williams, of O'Brien, FL, Betty (Leon) Jones, of Orlando, FL, sons George W. (Catherine), of Decatur, GA, Elvin (Kit) of Orlando, FL, Rex (Judy), of Phoenix City, AL, Tommy (Linda), Melbourne, FL, and two sisters Blanche Deese, Orlando, FL and Sadie Cox, Tampa, FL. She also leaves sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and a multitude of nephews and nieces. Her legacy will be one of caring and loving God and she will be remembered as a true woman of faith that always did what she believed in and cared for her family and others. Challenges are God's tests by which we are measured and Mary has passed them all. Her place in Heaven will be a glorious one to share with all of the loved ones that have gone on before her. She leaves us here on earth, yet she goes to prepare and wait for us to come soon and be together gain with her for all eternity. Services will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Orlando, FL, August 22, 2006 at 1:30 AM with viewing one hour before. Interment will be the following day, August 23rd at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, in Suwannee County, FL at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care. Services under the professional direction of DOBBS FUNERAL HOME, 430 N. Kirkman Rd, Orlando 407-578-7720.
