ROUND LAKE Mrs. Mary C. Knapp, 80, of Andrews Avenue, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 while in the loving company of her family, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Malta, March 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Sadie Lasher and lived in the Town of Malta all her life. A waitress for many years, Mary took care of customers at the former Grand Prix Restaurant of Malta, the Hutch of Malta and Van Patten Golf Course in Elnora. A former member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Round Lake, Mary was a caring and committed member of the Round Lake community and watched over all her village friends and children. Her husband of 51 years, John JR Knapp Jr. died October 9, 1998. Survivors include her daughters and their mates, Dawn and Bill Sinnott of Mechanicville, Sandra Knapp and Mary Whitman of Clifton Park and Cheryl and Alex Baranowski of Clifton Park and her son, Joseph Knapp and Angie Jones of Mechanicville; also survived by grandchildren, Tammy Sinnott, Terri and Jeffrey Urkevich, Don and Chrissie Baranowski, Debbie Senecal, Jodi Knapp, Brian and Shanin Knapp and Steven Knapp; and great-grandchildren, Jake and Zachary Urkevich, Ashley and Brandon Baranowski, Jeremiah Senecal, Tyler and Cameron Knapp; along with a sister, Naomi Knorowski of Jonesville; many nieces and nephews; and a guardian angel and caregiver, Donna Martin of Stillwater. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville with burial in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either Community Hospice of Saratoga or Malta Ambulance Corps.
