SOLON, Maine -- Mary C. Hall, 90, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at the Freeport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Freeport. For several years she was a resident of Birch Haven operated by the family of Don and Nancy Gerrans in Brunswick.She was born, July 27, 1913 in Solon, the daughter of Ralph Sr. and Eva (McQuilkin) Corson.She graduated from Solon High School in 1931. In 1933 she graduated from Farmington Normal School and began her teaching career. She taught at elementary schools in Linneus, North Anson, Norridgewock and Waterville until 1947. During the summers she worked at various camps in Rangeley and the Auburn Colony in South Harpswell.She married Malcolm M. Hall of Solon on Sept. 7, 1947, and went to live at the Hall Family Farm on French Hill Road in Solon. Malcolm died in 1991.In 1965 she resumed her teaching career at the Solon Consolidated School and retired in 1975. While she was teaching in Solon, she took summer session courses at the University of Maine in Farmington and received her B.S. in elementary education in 1972.Mrs. Hall was active in many church, civic and community groups in Solon including the Solon Federated Church, the Couples Club, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Solon Homemakers Extension a 70 years member of the North Somerset Grange and a former co-leader of the Solon Pine Tree 4-H Club.In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her three sisters, Alice Bibber, Lena Rowell and Virginia Lundy; her three brothers, John, Ralph Jr. and Howard Corson; a son-in-law, Randal Dickey; and a daughter-in-law Mary Jean Hall.Mary and Malcolm had four children; a son, Dana E. Hall and his wife Dale Redmond of Solon; three daughters, Dianne H. Lamb and her husband Frank of Pownal, Vt.; Joan D. Mitchell and her husband Henry of Bowdoinham, and Martha L. Hall of Front Royal, Va.; in addition she is survived by three grandchildren, Erin K. Hall of Richmond, Vt., Emily M. Hall, a junior at the University of Maine studying in Salzburg, Austria for the year and Michael R. Lamb, a senior at the University of Rochester, N.Y.; seven nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at the Solon Congregational Church on Main Street in Solon. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Coolidge Public Library, P.O. Box 238, Solon, Maine 04979. Arrangements are under the direction of Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St. in Bingham.
