January 31, 2012 Mary C. Farrell Dowd, 80, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at University Hospital at Community General. Born in Johnson City on March 4, 1931, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles B. Farrell Sr., she lived in Syracuse most of her life. Mary graduated from Cortland State College in 1953 and taught first grade in Binghamton. Mary was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, J. James Dowd; her brother, Dr. Charles B. (Judith) Farrell Jr.; two sons, Robert (Maribeth Krupczak) Dowd and Michael (Kellie) Dowd; her daughter, Kathleen Dowd Freese; granddaughters Keegan Freese and Katherine Dowd; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Edward J.
