ObituaryMARY C. ADAMSGROTON - Mary C. Adams, 79, of Old Peruville Road, Groton, died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at her daughter's home in Youngstown, NY, after an extended illness.Mrs. Adams was born May 27, 1925 in Heilwood, PA, the daughter of the late John P. and Anna T. (Kratochvil) Kocis. A resident of Groton for most of her life, Mary had been a former cashier, and later retired as the manager of the elementary school cafeteria of Groton Central School. Afterward, she worked for several years in the clubhouse operations at Stonehedges Country Club where she had been a lifetime member.Mary was a faithful, lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church of Groton, and had also been a volunteer at the Groton Nursing Facility for several years.She is survived by her two daughters, Jan (Lou) Mathews of Youngstown, and Chris (Tom) Thompson of Alamagordo, NM; her son, Billy (Cindy) Adams of Vienna, VA; four grandchildren, Heather Mathews, Shawn Mathews, Rob Thompson, and Jodie (Abe) Robinson; and a great-granddaughter, Anna Robinson.In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Adams on Sept. 19, 1987; and by her brother, John J. Kocis on June 18, 2003.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, in St. Anthony's Church, Groton, with the Rev. Frank Lioi as celebrant.
