Mary Burke Smith, 95, Sarasota, died Nov. 2, 2002. She was born April 21, 1907, in Altha and came to Sarasota in 1927 from there. She was a private maid-cook from 1940 to 1972 for Harriett Hersey of Sarasota. She was a member of Bay Haven Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters Jewell E. Morrow of Sarasota and Lorraine B. Cushman of Wauconda, Ill.; a sister, Lee Tiner of Auburndale; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, with a service to follow, at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Sarasota Memorial Park.
