MCCORMACK Mary Bruce McCormack, 79, died Friday, February 13, 2004, after a long illness. Mrs. McCormack was a Bank Street Scholar, a graduate of the University of North Florida and taught kindergarten in Duval County for 20 years at Oceanway and Morse Avenue Elementary schools. A longtime resident of Fruit Cove, and an avid reader, Mrs. McCormack helped found the Bartram Trail Library. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour and the Fit & Over 50 Group of the Mandarin YMCA. A native of Sydney, Australia, she was raised in Oxford, England, where she graduated from the Dragons School. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, James R. McCormack; a daughter, Louise Stoney of Averill Park, N.Y.; a son, James B. Stoney (Pamela) of Whitestone, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Hannah Faith Soloway; a brother, Neil F. Bruce of Oxford, England; and a stepdaughter, Diana M. McCormack of Jacksonville. Mrs. McCormack was predeceased by a daughter, Kate Cashel Stoney, in 1994. A memorial service will be at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, February 17 at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.
