Obituary of Mary Brown


MARY FIFIELD In loving memory of Mary Fifield, 79, of Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. Mary was born Jan. 18, 1922 in Pattullo Township, Ont. to the late John and Emma Brown. She lived most of her life in Rainy River District, settling into her house on Nelson Street in 1953 with her husband, Hugh. Mary and Hugh were united in marriage June 12, 1950. Together, they raised their family in Fort Frances, spending the summers on the farm in Crozier. Mary loved spending time there, tending to her flowers and vegetables, and taking walks. She was always very devoted to making things nice for her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh, on May 24, 1992; and her brother, John, in 1998. Mary is survived by her sons, Kenton, and Keith (Karen) Fifield, both of Fort Frances, Ont.; brothers, Robert (Nell) Brown of Stratton, Ont., Lawrence (Maxine) Brown of Stratton, Ont., and Henry (Edna) Brown of Pinewood, Ont.; sisters, Peggy (Phillip) Bellamy of Devlin, Ont., and Lilly Boldero of Stratton, Ont.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family both here in the Rainy River area and in England. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Terry McNear officiated, with interment in River-view Cemetery in Fort Frances. Pallbearers were her sons, Kenton Fifield and Keith Fifield; brothers, Robert Brown, Lawrence Brown, and Henry Brown; and nephews, Richard Bellamy and Lawrence Bellamy. If friends so desire, in memoriam donations can be made to the Kenora-Rainy River District Lung Association, Box 67, Kenora, Ont., P9N 3X4, or Parkinson’s Foun-dation of Ontario, 4211 Yonge Street, Ste. 316, Toronto, Ont., M2P 2A9.
