Obituary of Mary-B. Hughes


HUGHES, MARY B. "SIS," 89, of Louisville, went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday, November 28, 2010. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She loved her family and they were her life. She will be missed every day. Mary was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and a devout Catholic. In 2003, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph A. Hughes. She was also preceded by her sister, Alice Sullivan; and brother, William Medley. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Blandford (Bill), Brenda Hamilton and Judy Spencer (Larry); granddaughters, Sherry Richardson, Joanie Feusner (Mike), Kim Clouse, Lori Dixon (Brent), Denise Alstatt (Beau) and Rhonda Day (Jim); 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Laurie Ballard. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2042 Buechel Bank Road, with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 10 a.m. on Thursday, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Special thanks to all the nurses and staff of the Baptist Hospital East, Palliative Care 4th floor, for the excellent care our mother received.
