New London - Mary B. Beck, 83, of Niantic, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.Mrs. Beck was born on Sept. 15, 1930, in Hartford, the daughter of Vincienzo and Concetta Bottaro. She married Carl F. Beck on June 23, 1956. He predeceased her in 2009. She was employed as a 4th grade teacher at the Patterson School in Newington until her retirement.Mary was a longtime resident of Giants Neck beach and enjoyed the stunning ocean views for much of her life. She had a passion for painting, stained glass and many other crafts. Mary was active in several women's groups and local committees. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her brothers, Salvatore and Joseph Bottaro.Mrs. Beck is survived by her son, Carl Otto Beck and his wife, Marie, of Niantic; and grandchildren, Miles and Lydia Beck.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m Thursday, April 24, 2014, in St. Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Ave., Niantic.
