Mary was a native of Kansas, and moved to Florida in the 1980's where she met and married her present husband, Pastor Bob Fortier, a recently retired United Methodist pastor. She was his faithful partner in ministry for the last 22 years. Mary's beautiful smile and hugs was her trademark among the church people she loved dearly. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her loving ways and heart. Mary was a member of Laurens Road United Methodist Church, where her husband, Bob, was pastor for twelve years. As a lifelong United Methodist, she was actively involved in visitation, Sunday school and Choir as long as her health permitted. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three children, Eileen Shumate and her husband, John, of Grand Terrace, CA, Dale Sander and his wife, Louise, of Dallas, TX, and Anita Moore and her husband, Ken, of Greenville; a step-son, Keith R. Fortier, of Charlotte, NC. Four grandchildren, Chris and Brian Shumate, and Sarah and Emily Moore; and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The Celebration of Life service will follow in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurens Road United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
