Martha Ann Smith, 59, died Nov. 30, 2008, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. She was born in Fort Pierce and was a lifelong resident. She attended the local schools of St. Lucie County. She was a member of Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Willie Smith of Fort Pierce; brothers, C. D. Grant, Roy Smith, Nathaniel Smith and Nathan Smith, all of Fort Pierce; sisters, Ruby Ponder of Savannah, Ga., Catherine Sneed of Sylvania, Ga., Bernice Manning and Ann Powell , both of Fort Lauderdale, Marie Bell, Joann Smith and Clara Mack, all of Fort Pierce, and Mary Hooks of Vienna, Ga.; companion, Lonnie Hanna of Fort Pierce; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Smith; mother, Elise Grant Smith; and brothers, Charles Smith and Tony Smith. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 6 at Sarah's Memorial Chapel in Fort Pierce. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roszon Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
