Martha Jo Smith - Grant-Valkaria - Martha Jo Smith, born June 20, 1935, a lifetime resident of Grant, Florida, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009. Jo worked at Smitty's Welding all her adult life and while small in stature, had a feisty nature and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was the "caregiver" of the family and was always willing to help family and friends in times of need. She loved to fish, boating, the ocean, nature, enjoyed her flowers and loved her family and many friends. She is survived by her niece, Linda Duerden; nephews, Louis and Mike Benson; brother-in-law, Carl Benson; and a great niece, Angela Duerden. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Brownlie Maxwell Funeral Chapel with services to be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
