Obituary of Martha-Nell-Shirley Turner


NORTHPORT Martha Nell Shirley Turner, age 80, went home to be with her Lord on March 28, 2007 at her residence. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Macedonia Methodist Church Cemetery on Highway 69 North with Rev. Rock Stone officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her parents, Byrd Franklin and Malilda Ann Smith Shirley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fannie Lou (Bruce) Hamner, Ruby (Erman) Mills, Sue (Thomas) Lake; brothers and sisters-in-law, James W. Shirley, John (Sally) Shirley, Lonnie (Estelle) Shirley, B.F. Shirley, Grady (Margaret) Shirley, Bobby Renzo Shirley; brothers-in-law, Howard Davis and O. Dee Hamner; and grandson, James Sherer.Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James Clifton Turner; daughters, Shirley (Jim) Buckallew and Nancy (Vic) Williams; sons, Jerry Turner and Larry (Libby) Turner; sisters, Frances Hamner and Joan Davis; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Shirley; granddaughters, Sabrina (Bo) Wheat, Kathryn (Thomas) McAnally and Angelia Green; grandsons, Michael (Lana) Sherer, Jerry (Tracy) Turner, Jr., Robert (Bridgette) Sellers, Jamie and Joey Turner; nine great granddaughters, three great grandsons, and a host of nieces and nephews.Mrs. Turner was a true loving servant; she loved the Lord, her family and the grandchildren were her delight. She especially loved to travel and was always ready whenever possible. She enjoyed playing the piano and quilting. She had a full life and was ready for her heavenly home.Pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, DCH Regional Medical Center 3 South and 1 South, Dr. and Mrs. James and Laura Saxon, former employees she worked with at Bryce Treatment Center #2, TCHS Class of 1946, Macedonia Church family, Macedonia Seekers Prayer Group, Joint-Heirs Ministries, friends and neighbors of the Lafoy, New Lexington, Yellow Creek, Western Hills, Coker and Clearwater Communities. Special thanks to Carrie Hayes and Emily Utley for their compassionate care.
