Martha McFadden, 83, died April 10, 2009, in Stuart. She was born in Manning, S.C., and was a longtime resident of Stuart, coming from South Carolina. She retired from Rood Landscaping. She was a member of New Allen A.M.E. Temple, where she served as a choir member, usher, class leader and stewardess. Survivors include her sons, Ervin McFadden of Patterson, N.J., and Joe Archie McFadden of Stuart; daughters, Celesta McFadden, Ollie Johnson and Charlotte McClain, all of Port St. Lucie, Brenda Singletary of Stuart and Glenda McClain of Hobe Sound; brother, Willie Johnson of Gable, S.C.; sisters, Sadie Lowery of West Palm Beach, Ruby McFadden of Hobe Sound and Annie Lawson of Long Island, N.Y.; 38 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Curtis McFadden and James Oliver McFadden; daughter, Helen Flemning; brothers, Hezekiah Johnson and Clem Johnson; and sisters, Agnes Burgess, Elizabeth Johnson and Wyonna McFadden. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. and a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. April 18 at New Allen AME Temple in Hobe Sound. Burial will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery in Hobe Sound.
