LEE, Martha L. Caldwell Alsup HughesAge 89 of Nashville. Passed away on September 29, 2011. She was born on October 16, 1921 to the late John Jordan Caldwell and Maggie Wheeler Caldwell. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Caldwell and Jordan Caldwell; close cousin, Marie Bennett Pollard; son-in-law, John Thuss Terrell; two husbands, Douglas M. Alsup (married 39 years) and James Hughes (married 16 years). Mrs. Lee is survived by husband, William (Bill) Lee, Jr. (of 10 years); five children, Douglas M. (Carla) Alsup, Jr., Thomas C. (Linda) Alsup, Cathee Alsup (Ralph) Mabry, Aimee Alsup Terrell and A. Craig (Peggy) Alsup; step children, Jimmy Hughes, Marilyn H. Newman and Ted Hughes, Anne Lee and Bob Lee. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lee has strong ties to Williamson County. She began her education at Triune School. She was a homemaker and wife of a minister, Doug Alsup. She was a longtime member of Bellevue Church of Christ and she enjoyed many years as a Sunday School teacher to young girls. Anyone who met her was drawn to her soft spoken southern charm. A Graveside service for family and friends will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Sarah. Dr. Marlin Connelly will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Potter Children's Home in Bowling Green, KY or AGAPE, Nashville, TN.
