SMITH Martha Eugenie, passed peacefully after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer on December 29, 2009, at the age of 61.A River Edge native, she was born on April 26, 1948, and lived there her entire life. Martha graduated from River Dell High School and Trenton State University. Before her illness, she worked in the long term care insurance field and more recently worked for the Borough of River Edge as a dispatcher for the Senior Bus. She enjoyed bowling and was active in Girl Scouts, both as a scout and later as a leader. She was also very active in the First Congregational Church of River Edge and the Cresskill Congregational Church. Most of all, Martha was an animal lover, truly dedicated to her kitties.Martha is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Smith and Elaine Smith and husband, David Siegel, and her niece, Alison Dunbar and husband Douglas Dunbar and grand nephews Chase and Cameron Dunbar. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Sunday, January, 17, at 3 PM at the Cresskill Congregational Church, 85 Union Ave, Cresskill, NJ 07626.
