Martha Ens, born in 1929, daughter of Aaron and Helena, died on December 25, 2011. Please consult the obituary here:
Martha Ens died in the evening of December 25th, 2011 at the Personal Care Home at Luther Riverside Terrace. The funeral will be on Friday, December 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Nutana Park Mennonite Church with Pastors Anita Ratzlaff and Patrick Preheim presiding. Martha was born in the family home in Neuhorst near Osler on March 15th, 1929. Her life was shaped by a loving home and a caring community. She was baptized in the Old Colony Church in Neuhorst in May of 1950. Her Christian faith helped to sustain her for her whole life. She transferred her membership to Nutana Park Mennonite Church in the past year. She went to elementary school in Neuhorst and in a big departure from village norms, came to Saskatoon to attend Saskatoon Business College. Since she had not gone to high school, she was admitted on probation. She succeeded as a result of hard work and very strong academic ability. After graduation, she began working at Dairy Producers, working her way up to secretary to the manager. She worked there for 44 years. Martha had severe allergies which caused life-long respiratory problems. Although this limited the amount of physical exertion she could undertake, it did not diminish her vitality and enjoyment of life. She enjoyed sports, loved music and thrived on social contacts with her family and many friends. Since she had no children of her own, her siblings and their families became her family. The last social event she attended was the annual Ens Family Christmas, December 11th this year. She was delighted to see over forty of her family in attendance. Martha will be missed by all of her family: siblings-in-law Genevieve (Carl), Mabel (Bill) and Barbara (Henry); and brothers Danny (Karen) and Jake (Barbara); sister Margaret Buckner; and all of the nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Aaron, birth mother, Katherina, two infant sisters, Susan and Elizabeth; sister Helen (Abe) Wollf; brothers Carl, Bill and Henry and mother, Helena Ens. We will deeply miss Martha, but will remember her with love and gratitude for all she meant to us. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Personal Care Home at Luther Riverside Terrace, 915 Sask. Cres. West, Saskatoon, S7M 0M7. The family would like to thank the staff at the Personal Care Home at Luther Riverside Terrace for their wonderful care over the last year and a half, and to Drs. Cockcroft, Grant Wright and Garry Rebalkin. Visitation and prayers will be held at Martens Warman Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29th at 7:00 p.m. A private family interment in the family plot will take place on Friday, December 30th at 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME.
