COTTAGEVILLE, S.C.- Mrs. Martha Dannelly Smith, 89, of Cottageville, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the Oakwood Health Care Center in Walterboro. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, May 19, 2004 in the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Walterboro, with Reverend Jessie Jerkins and Reverend Dr. Walter Doyle officiating. Interment will follow in Cottageville Cemetery, Cottageville. Mrs. Smith was born October 12, 1914 in Jacksonville, Florida and was a daughter of George and Eula Brabham Dannelly. In 1952 she began her career with the Colleton County Treasurer's Office and retired in 1976. She was a devoted member of Cottageville Baptist Church where she was a member of the Choir and was a Sunday School and Training Union Teacher. She was a member of the Walterboro Chapter No. 147, Order of the Eastern Star and was a past District Deputy Grand Matron. She helped to organize the former Cottageville Chapter of the Order of the Ea stern Star and served as a Worthy Matron. She was the widow of Mr. David Smith. Surviving are a son, David E. 'Gene' Smith of Cottageville; daughter, Carrie Moye Warner of Cocoa Beach, Florida; two sisters, Ella E. 'Bette' Alley of Charleston and Cornelia Best of Ehrhardt; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
