July 1, 2004 Martha A. Dixon Cooper, age 70, has gone home to be with God on Thursday and her husband, Russell, Jr. who passed away in 1995. She resided in Phoenix, NY for the past nine years, and prior to that resided in Palermo, NY for 30 years. She retired from Mexico Academy & Central Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Phoenix, NY. Her love and devotion was to her family and God. Survivors: three sons, Richard Cooper of South Granby, NY, Rev. Russell Cooper, III of Mexico, NY; James Cooper of Phoenix, NY; two daughters, Maryann Howard of Phoenix, NY, Elizabeth L. Barta of Onalaska, WI; two brothers, Harold Dixon of Scranton, PA, Robert Dixon; two sisters, Elizabeth Mulhurn of Scranton, PA, Lillian Dushney of Olyphant, PA; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her father, Harold Dixon; and mother, Martha Lewis. Visitation will be held at Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. Services July 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home in Scranton, PA. Officiant: Rev. Scott McAlayea of First Baptist Church, Phoenix, NY. Interment Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township, PA.
