Obituary of Marlene King

Marlene Mary King It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Marlene (Budd) King in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Monday, February 6, 2006. Marlene was predeceased by her father and mother, Stephen and Helen Budd, her first born infant son and niece Kimberley O'Flynn. Marlene was born in Luseland, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1938. She moved with her family to Saskatoon when she was 10 years old, where she resided for most of her life. Marlene had an interesting career commencing with the Airforce, she worked as a social worker for the Elizabeth Fry Society, was a real estate agent and was the Band Administrator for Lucky Man Cree Nation. This Band Administrator position was closest to her heart and the Band prospered greatly during her tenure. Marlene will be remembered for her love of family, especially her grandchildren, her love and commitment to the First Nations people of Saskatchewan, her unwaivering loyalty to her friends and her passion for reading, politics, family history and people in general. Marlene embraced the responsibility of being a pillar of support to so many friends and family members. She had the natural ability to provide comfort, wisdom and guidance to all who knew her. She was also the holder of the family history and the link that bound our extended family together. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Roderick, Saskatoon ; son Timothy (Brenda), Gazankas Drayton Valley, Alberta; daughter Patricia (Alphonse), MacNeil Halifax, Nova Scotia; six grandchildren, Cody and Craig Gazankas, Angela, Jeffrey, Adam and Megan MacNeil; sisters, Lorraine (Hal) Ceaser, Leduc, Alberta, Sylvia (Jack) Gravel, North Bay, Ontario, Trish London, Saskatoon; brother Gary (Linda) Budd, Naples, Florida and many loved nieces and nephews.
