SMITH, Marjorie Mary (nee Blakeston) At Billings Lodge on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at the age of 98 years. Beloved wife of 72 years of the late Claire Chapman Smith. Loving mother of Sheila Hewitt, Faye Moffatt (Bill Newcombe), Beverley Dunn (Wain), of Brooklin, Ontario, Ted Smith (Deborah) of Milton, Ontario and Steve Smith (Cathy) of Embrun, Ontario. Cherished grandmother of Anne, Tom, Paula, Lynne, Peter, Janice, Greg, Leigh Anne, Amanda and Trevor. Loving great-grandmother of 9 and great-great grandmother of 4. Predeceased by siblings Alma, Willard and Lella. Cherished Aunt Marge to Terry and Bev McKinney, Nora Boone, Bob and Mary McKinney, great-aunt of 5 and great- great aunt of 6. Fondly remembered by her sisters-in- law Lorraine Pearce and Mildred Smith. Marjorie was a school teacher by profession throughout the Ottawa Valley and in latter years taught English to new Czechoslovakian immigrants. She was a 30-year volunteer at the Perley Hospital and an active member of the UCW at Southminster. She loved to travel and explore Canada each summer with her sister Lella. Marjorie was famous for entertaining and serving home-cooked Canadian meals. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry on Saturday, September 10, from 9:45 a.m. until Service time in the Chapel at 11:15 a.m. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations to the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre would be appreciated. A sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at Billings Lodge for their loving care of Marjorie.
