Marjorie-R. Johnson, born in 1918, spouse of Harold-F. Johnson, daughter of Lester-W and Louise, mother of Ill, H. Kenneth and Melvin L, died on June 21, 2014.
Marjorie Ruth (French) Johnson, beloved wife of the late Harold F. Johnson, entered into eternal rest with him Saturday, June 21, 2014. She was born March 12, 1918, in Braintree. She was raised in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School, Class of 1936. Marjorie was a resident of Marshfield for 59 years. She worked at various local businesses including Sargents Restaurant in Norwell, New England Art, Grossmans and finally retiring from Almys Department Store. She was past Worthy Matron of the Hatherly Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and recently received her 70-year membership pin. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Hanover Gems bowling league at the Hanover Bowl-A-Drome for many years. Her favorite pastime was going to the beach with her family. Marjories greatest passion was her family and many friends she made over the years. From Sunday dinners to holiday gatherings, she took great pride in hosting the get togethers and having everyone together under one roof to celebrate. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Marjorie is survived by two sons, Melvin L. Johnson of Marshfield and H. Kenneth Johnson and his wife Dawn of West Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren, Arnold Johnson and his wife Debra of Rochester, Ellen Gustafson and her husband Curt of North Windham, Conn., Mark Johnson and his wife Amy of Sandwich, Ill., Tina Donovan and her husband James of Marshfield, Elizabeth Pomatto and her husband Michael of Wheaton, Ill. Marjorie was loved by 12 great-grandchildren, Emily Johnson, Nicholas Gustafson, Andrea Pomatto, Rebecca Johnson, Elise Gustafson, Avery Bach, Meghan Johnson, James Donovan, Michael Pomatto, Henry Johnson, Julia Donovan and Macy Pomatto. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Besides her husband of 62 years, Marjorie was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Beverly L. Johnson, and three sisters, Doris Silvia, Muriel Benson and Pauline Simmons. Her parents, Louise E. and Lester W. French also preceded her in death. The family wishes to thank Cranberry Hospice as well as the PCAs from Comfort Keepers who enabled her to stay in her home throughout this time as was her wish. Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 6, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland.
