Marjorie Ann Johnson, 80, Seymour, entered eternal life at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, surrounded by family and loved ones at her residence.Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Seymour High School, the Class of 1947. She was a former volunteer for Lutheran Community Home and Immanuel Lutheran Church Braille Workers. She had taught secretarial courses at Indiana Business College in Indianapolis and also worked at the Veterans Administration in Indianapolis. She retired as executive secretary to the president of Contel, Seymour, in 1989, after 25 years of loyal service.She loved taking long walks with her good friend and neighbor, Catherine Montgomery, and listening to big band and classical music. She also loved traveling with her children to the ocean. She enjoyed her wine, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and watching her hummingbirds. She was a kind, warm, witty, fun-loving and wise person to all who knew her. She loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandson, Mathew.Born Sept. 1, 1929, in Louisville, Ky., she was the daughter of Thomas "Bones" Jefferson Johnson and Eva Schurch Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. In January 1951, she married Eugene Hazelrigg Johnson in Indianapolis. They relocated from Indiana to Santa Monica, Calif., and lived there until 1961, at which time they returned to Seymour.Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Anne (Nick) Vogel; two sons, Kevin Scott (Angie) Johnson and Michael Dale (Carol) Johnson; two grandsons, Mathew Dillon Johnson and Cody Scott Johnson; and one granddaughter, Cheyenne Nichole Gross.She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, on Dec. 22, 1988; her son, Thomas E. Johnson, on May 13, 1994; and her daughter, Leslie Gail Johnson-Gabbard, on Jan. 30, 2001.The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch and the Rev. James Rodriguez will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. The Rev. Blomenberg will conduct a committal service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Braille Workers or Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Tri-County Crematory, Seymour.www.vossfuneralservice.com
