->NEWPORT -- Marion "Merry" Williams, 89, died Aug. 25, 2007 at a Pittsfield healthcare facility following a short period of ill health. She was born in Sherman Mills Oct. 31, 1917, the daughter of Edmund C. and Edith W. (Lewis) Roberts. She graduated from Sherman Mills High School and attended Aroostock Normal School. Marion was an elementary school teacher teaching at schools in Dyer Brook, Detroit, Stetson, and Crystal. She was married to Lewis Merry, who died in 1975, and to John Millard Williams, who died in 1985. She was a member of the Sebasticook Grange in Newport. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Newport and was the church organist for several years. She also attended Lake Road Bible Church in Monticello. Marion is survived by her two children, Lorraine Merry of Windham, and Gordon and Donna Merry of Newport; one sister, Helen Duguay of Houlton; 7 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her son Edmund "Buck" Merry predeceased her in 1990. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center with Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Mills.
