-> Naples, FL - Marion Anderson died October 4, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Born in New Orleans in 1924, she was the daughter of Robert Lee and Golde (McKnight) McGrew. Her fathers career with Stone and Webster had the family living in many cities across the country. Marion graduated from the University of Washington, as a member of Chi Omega Sorority, where she met her husband Jack Clayton Anderson. They married in San Francisco, while Jack was on leave serving as a Lieutenant in the Navy, in 1946. After the war Jack joined General Electric, which took the family through many moves. They lived in Erie, PA, St. Louis, MO, Norfolk, Va, Schenectady, NY, Pittsburgh, Chagrin Falls, OH, Savannah and Naples. Her resilient nature and positive spirit eased these transitions for the family. She raised her children primary in Schenectady, where she was a member of the First Reformed Church, Edison and Mohawk Golf Clubs, and the Panhellenic Association. A life long interest in antiques led to her establishing a successful shop in Pittsburgh. Marion was a devoted mother, beloved wife and friend whose soft-spoken nature and courageous spirit were always admired and will be remembered by those who loved her. Marion had a life-long passion for the arts, which ranged from opera and the symphony to theatre and ballet. She was an avid gardener, and loved to play tennis, golf, and ski. Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jack , who died in March 2003. Survivors: three children, Christopher Lee Anderson (Patti) of Baltimore, MD, Karen Anderson Harvey (Tom) of Marblehead, MA and Jane Anderson Coffey (Bob) of Daytona Beach, FL; a sister, Jayne Waldron of Mercer Island, WA; five grandchildren. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Naples United Church of Christ, Crayton Rd, Naples.
