Marie Williams, born in 1919, spouse of John-G. Williams, daughter of Joseph-H and Agnes, mother of Lesley, Vt, Lexine Lee and Christine, died on January 6, 2008.
BENNINGTON -- Marie Davenport Williams, 88, a resident of Village Lane in Bennington and formerly of Addison, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at the Village at Fillmore Pond in Bennington, surrounded by her family.Marie was born in Cambridge, Mass., on March 11, 1919, the daughter of Joseph H. and Agnes (Robbins) Aspey. Marie graduated from North Bennington High School and Lesley College in Wellesley, Mass. Marie owned two boats and loved boating on Lake Champlain. She loved her home and cherished times spent with her family. Marie was the oldest living member of the Bennington Club.She is survived by three daughters, Lesley Olin and her husband Noel of Newport, Vt., and Lexine Lee Williams and Christine Loveland and her husband Skip of Bennington; her brother Ralph S. Wheeler of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Williams, who died in 1988. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. There are no visiting hours.
