GREER, SC-- Marie Parris Williams, 90, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006.Born on April 15, 1916, she was the daughter of the late David Leander and Maude Powell Parris of Spartanburg.Mrs. Williams was a retired Executive Secretary. She was a Senior Action volunteer, an American Red Cross volunteer and was active in civic and educational affairs.Mrs. Williams was past President of the Greenville Toastmistress Club, member and officer of the Greenville and Charleston Business Womens Association, past President of the Sans Souci and Parker High School PTA, Vice President of the District PTA, Hospitality Chairman for the State PTA Convention, State Bulletin Chairman and a State Board Member. She was one of the first eleven to be honored with a State Life PTA membership and was an honorary member of the See You at School campaign. She was a member of the Greenville Womens Club.Surviving are two daughters, Rose Marie W. Bray and her husband Dr. Edward W. Bray III of Greenville, Dorothy L. Williams of Greenville; a son, David Terry Williams, Sr. and his wife Judy B. of Iva; a daughter-in-law, Claudine C. Williams of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, Edward W Bray IV, Christopher Chase Bray, Emily Marie Bray, David T. Williams, Jr., Anna Maria Page, William E. Lance Williams III, and Lee Parris Currington; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William E. Bill Williams, Jr.Memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 414-A Pettigru Street, Greenville, SC 29601; Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605; or to the church of ones choice.Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at noon in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 10:30-11:45 AM at the funeral home.
