HANCOCK - Marie Louise MacDonald, 104, a resident of Portage Pointe, went to her eternal rest on April 27, 2005. She was born Marie Louise Poisson on May 15, 1900, in Lake Linden, to Antime and Elizabeth Poisson who preceded her in death in 1950 and 1951. Marie Louise was educated at a Convent Academy in Canada from 1909 to 1913. She remained in Lake Linden for a few years and then joined her sister, Marie, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. There she met and married Hubert Hofer in 1926. Her beloved Hubert passed away in 1951, just one day after their 25th wedding anniversary.She remained in Ft. Wayne, Ind. and for a time, Louise, as she was known, worked for the Indiana Hotel until her retirement in 1962. Louise then met up with her childhood sweetheart Ted MacDonald from Lake Linden and was married in 1971. He passed away in the early 1980's.Louise resided at Still Waters Home in Calumet for nine years until she became a resident of Portage Pointe on April 3, 1998. She was known for her stories and great wit and will be sadly missed by family and many friends.Surviving are nephews, Rev. Thomas L. Poisson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Robert Poisson of Marinette, Wis., Michael Haley of Holt, Mich., John Hofer of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; a niece Theresa (Haley) Vidal of Rochester, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews in the state of New York; and a grandniece, Dotti Michel of Fairhope, Ala., a grandnephew, Richard Michel of Ontonagon; numerous other grandnieces and nephews; and a very special friend of 74 years, Frances Rousseau of Angola, Ind., who especially shares in our grief.There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. Interment will be in Ft. Wayne, Ind.The Pearce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
