Funeral service for Marie Jackson, 78, Roth Street, Daytona Beach, who died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Aventura Medical Center, Miami, after an extended illness, will be 1 p.m. today (Saturday, December 10) at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, host church, Dr. Ronald L. Durham, pastor, and the Rev. Jeffrey D. Robinson, pastor of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are from from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home. Mrs. Jackson was born in Oak Hill and lived much of her life in Daytona Beach after moving from West Bainbridge, Ga., in 1959. She became a Christian at an early age and remained faithful throughout her life. She was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for 46 years. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories two sons, Deacon Melvin Jackson Sr., Miami, and James Jackson Sr., Lincoln, Neb.; daughter, Brenda Jackson-Stocks, Lincoln; brother, Deacon Isaac (Helen) Conyers, Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Geneva Cull, Dothan, Ala., and Mariah Wilks, Miami; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Lumpkin-Jackson and Barbara Bradley-Jackson; sisters-in-law, Sallie Stewart, Lois Sykes, Evelyn Jackson and Helen Conyers; eight grandchildren, Kimberly (Louis) Jones, Beverly, Melvin Jr., Michael (Nika), James Jr., Chassidy and Cicely Jackson; 19 great-grandchildren; a caring and devoted niece, Margie Cull-Clark, Dothan; close friend, Ingrid Lychfield, Boynton; and many other relatives and friends.
