-> Mrs. Marie Hodge Davis, 94, died, Monday, November 8, 2004, a Hospice House Savannah, Inc. A native of Rocky Ford, GA., attended public schools of Rocky Ford, GA., at an early age moved to Savannah, where she attended the Chatham County public schools. She was a certified Cosmetologist, she joined the First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend E. D. Davis, where she was a Primary Sunday School Teacher, member of the Senior Choir and Teacher in the Baptist Training Union. She chaperoned youth to Sunday School Conventions on the local and state levels and organized the first Women's Day Program at First Tabernacle, and instrumental in having water installed in the Church. Marie resided in Savannah during her early years but relocated to Miami, FL, where she resided over fifty years. She was married to the late Marley H. Davis. She leaves to cherish her passing: three nephews, Spencer E. White, Jr, Willie James White, both of Savannah, Guy Hodge Jr. of New York, NY; four nieces, Eva Jefferson of Scotch Plains, NJ, Yvette Hodge Banks of New York, NY, Mildred Imogene Hodge Wright (Bobby) of Tucker, GA, Hyde Gordon of New Jersey, Vivian Johnson of Scotsdale, Arizona; a host of grandnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Speed and Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clarence Williams officiating. Interment: Laurel Grove Cemetery.
