Marie Collins, 85, of Crystal River, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Hospice House of Citrus County in Lecanto. She was born April 15, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY. to Joseph and Carmela (Abatemarco) Disponzio. She came to this area 20 years ago from Farmingdale L.I.N.Y. She was a retired legal secretary a member of the Crystal River Women's Club, she enjoyed painting and was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Collins; and a son, Timothy Collins. She is survived by a son, Arthur Collins of Ft. Myers; and a daughter, Ellen Mallon of Crystal River; a daughter-in-law, Teri Carollo-Collins of Massapequa, N.Y.; two brothers, Rosario "Sonny" Disponzio (Antoinette) of Citrus Hills and William Disponzio (Fran) of Amityville, N.Y.; two grandchilren, Ryan Mallon of Inverness. and T.J. Collins of Massapequa, N.Y.; and her canine companion, "Schatzi". She was a devoted aunt to numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Strickland Funeral Home with Crematory Crystal River.
