NEW BEDFORD -- Marie Blanche (Richard) Tremblay, 79, of New Bedford, died at home Friday, June 17, 2005, after a long battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was the wife of Paul Tremblay; they were married 59 years. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Noe and Cormilia (Marcotte) Richard. She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School. She worked as a cloth inspector at Cliftex and as a solderer at Aerovox. Mrs. Tremblay was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping and cooking. Survivors include her widower; three daughters, Joan Robertson and her husband, Russell, of Fairhaven, Sandra Tremblay of New Bedford and Janet Ferreira and her husband, Wayne, of Acushnet; a son, Richard Tremblay and his fiancée, Lucille Perry, of Fairhaven; a brother, Leo Richard of New Bedford; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; her caregivers, Adeline Andrade and Mandy Beauvais; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Wilfred Richard, Alec Richard, Albert Richard and Norman Richard, Jean Bourgeois and Alice Bruneau. Her funeral services are private. Arrangements are by the Brooklawn-Chausse Dumont Funeral Home, 15 Irvington Court.
