Marie Alice Goodwin 1926-2014 An "Angel" has left for a better place, leaving to mourn her family and many friends left on Earth. Marie Goodwin (nee George) passed away 4 October 2014, at the Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, NB. Marie was the youngest daughter of Alice (Cook) and Russell George, Born 04 November 1926 in Midgic, NB. Marie's life was about her family, friends, and anyone who crossed her path. She loved animals, knitting, crafts, cooking and volunteering on any level, golf, card games and travel. Upon retirement and returning from 24 years in Dartmouth to Baie Verte, NB in 1981, it didn't take Marie long to begin volunteering, helping neighbours and being involved full tilt with the UCW. She spent many happy hours at the Baie Verte Hall quilting (if walls could talk!) Marie worked tirelessly side by side with her best friend and husband of 69 and 1/2 years, Keith Goodwin of Baie Verte. Marie is survived by her sons, Alan (Sharral), Darmouth, NS, Stephen, Fall River, NS, and Dan (Sheila) Burton, NB; a daughter, Sandy Slayter; sister, Bertha Scott, Port Elgin; sister-in-law, Betty George and a brother-in-law Allison Goodwin. Also left to mourn are four grandchildren, Todd, Deena, Robert (Majorie), Tanya (Daniel); two great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her brother, Art George. Heartfelt thank-you's go out to all the staff of the Westford Nursing Home for Marie's loving care, Dr. Graeme Stewart and Julia Campbell who ensured Keith saw his "Bride" daily. Marie will be remembered by many in the area for her homemade fudge on Hallowe'en night! Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin chapel; 3 West Main Street; (506-538-2241) from where a time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm.
