BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Marguerite S. Harrington, 87, wife of Reuben A. Harrington, a resident of East Main Street, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.Born in New York City on Aug. 10, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas A. and Helen (McCarthy) Schnurr. She received her early education at the Hicks School in Bennington and was a 1935 graduate of the former Bennington High School.In earlier years, Mrs. Harrington worked in the office at the former EZ Mill and Ben-Mont Paper Company. She later was employed as office manager at the Bennington Banner for 25 years until the time of her retirement.For more than 20 years, Mrs. Harrington was a volunteer with the RSVP program in Bennington.Survivors include her husband, Reuben A. Harrington of Bennington; a daughter, Tracey L. Harrington of Bellerica, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, W. James and Mary Bartlett of Troy, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Vicki Potter, Melissa, Wells, Waylon, Justin and Kyle Bartlett; two great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Nathan Potter; a sister, Dorothy Warren of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday, May 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bennington, officiating.Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Bennington County Inc. through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Inc., 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
