Funeral services for longtime Hearst resident Marguerite (née Paradis) 'Margot' Bégin, 80, of Eighth St. were held Nov. 17, 2001. She died Nov. 14 at Notre-Dame Hospital from cancer. Born Aug. 1, 1921 in St-Honoré de Shenley, Quebec, she came to the area in 1940 following the death of her mother. A member of the Club soleil des aîné-e-s seniors club, she was described as generous, organized and helpful. She enjoyed walking, cooking, shopping, reading, singing, listening to music, and welcoming neighborhood children. Her sister Thérèse Charest of Sherbrooke died in May this year. The deceased leaves her husband Evariste Bégin, sons Régent (Ginette) and Ronald (Jacqueline) Bégin, and daughter Gaëtane (Roger) Vaillancourt, all of Hearst. There are also granddaughters Mylène and Chantal, and grandsons Yves, Patrick, Michel, Luc and Eric. Rev. Rémi Lessard officiated the service at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment will be at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery.
