Obituary of Marguerite C. Ducharme


Marguerite C. Ducharme 1933 - 2011 INDIAN ORCHARD - Marguerite C, (Carney) Ducharme, 78, of Indian Orchard died peacefully, Friday, September 30, 2011 surrounded by her family at her home. Marguerite, a daughter of the late William F. and Margaret (Darcy) Carney was born in Springfield on May 26, 1933. Raised in Springfield she was a 1950 graduate of Cathedral High School. Marguerite worked for many years for the City of Springfield as a clerk for the Department of Public Works and retired in 1997. Marguerite was dedicated to her family. Her most important job in life was being a full time and "Best Mom" to her six children. Marguerite enjoyed cake decorating, trips to the seashore, and being an avid fan and rooting for the Boston Red Sox. She resided in Indian Orchard for 54 years and was a communicant of the former St. Matthews Church and a member of Catholic Women's Club. In addition to her parents Marguerite was predeceased by a sister Beverly Cullinan and her husband George. She is survived by her children, Daniel L. Ducharme and his wife Sharon of Feeding Hills, and Michael R. Ducharme and Christopher W. Ducharme both of Springfield, Patricia M. Scala and her husband Michele of Chicopee, Kathleen A. Ducharme and Maureen T. Ducharme both of Indian Orchard; her grandchildren, Stephen, Darcy, Kyle, Josh and his fiancée Cassandra; her great grandson, William; a nephew William Cullinan and his wife Terry and their children Timothy and Elizabeth of Springfield; and a niece Mary Cullinan of Springfield. Visiting hours for Marguerite will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 219 Plumtree Road, Springfield. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield.
