Margaret “Maggie” Wiley Harris died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at her home in Powhatan, Va. She was born March 10, 1940, in Decatur where she attended Decatur High School and graduated from Auburn University in 1962, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.Mrs. Harris was a devoted member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Powhatan where she sang in the choir and was recording secretary of the Episcopal Church Women and a member of the Altar Guild. She loved her family, friends, flowers and life in general, and was cherished by all who knew her. For the last 12 years, she worked at Richardson-Harris Boatwright Insurance Agency, Inc. in Powhatan where she always greeted customers with her warm smile and infectious laugh. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, M. Stevens Harris; three sons, Mark Stevens Harris and wife, Kristin, of Davidson, N.C., Patrick Tuggle Harris and wife, Sonja, of Midlothian, Va., and Michael James Harris of Powhatan, Va.; four grandchildren, Matthew, Evan, Shelby and newborn, Jensen; her mother, Ethel Harrison Wiley; brother, Dr. James B. Wiley Jr.; sister, Patricia Wiley, all of Decatur; many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and one special friend, Mary Ann Goodwyn of Powhatan.The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A reception will follow at the Mill at Fine Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2245 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan, VA 23139.
