WHELAN Margaret Whelan, age 89, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away May 14, 2012 at Lord Chamberlain. Mrs. Whelan was born in Lochmer, NH and was a longtime area resident. She volunteered at Bridgeport Hospital for over 20 years. She was predeceased by her husband George R. Whelan. Survivors include her daughter Helen Lombardi of Bridgeport; her two sons Robert Whelan and his wife Agnetha of Stratford, and Richard Whelan and his wife Valerie of Tupper Lake, N.Y.; her sister Virginia Merrill of Lochmer, NH; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren ; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerfield Methodist Church 110 Clermont Ave. Bridgeport with the Reverend Marjorie Nunes officiating.
