Obituary of Margaret-Sybil Carter


CARTER Margaret Sybil Carter, 96, passed away, after a brief illness, on October 20, 2014 in Conyers, Georgia. She lived at Remington House, a retirement community, for the last eight years. Sybil was born in Albertville, Alabama where she lived for the first seventeen years of her life. After leaving Albertville, she moved to Jacksonville, FL where she lived until moving to Conyers, Georgia. She married Ernest O. Carter, in 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida. They were happily married for fifty nine years. She was an active member of San Jose Episcopal Church for most of her adult life and was also a life member of Khem Temple and Daughters of the Nile. Sybil is survived by her daughter Teresa Carter Turner and son-in-law Lynn Baxter Turner of Woodstock, Georgia. She is also survived by her wonderful neighbor and friend Beverly Hicks of Jacksonville, Florida and her great friend and caretaker, Mona Cephafile of Stone Mountain, Georgia. Her daughter, Teresa and son-in-law, Lynn will be forever grateful for the love and care provided to Sybil by these two wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie Moore Thomas and Clarence Thomas, her brother Ellis Thomas, her son Richard Terry Carter, and her husband Ernest O. Carter. Mrs. Carter was interred at Oaklawn Cemetery on San Jose Boulevard, in Jacksonville. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
