FLAHERTY, Margaret Patricia “Pat” 2008-11-08 Mrs. Margaret Patricia “Pat” Flaherty, age 85 years, passed away peacefully at Pinewood Court on Wednesday, November 5th, 2008. Born and raised in Fort William, Pat attended local schools before obtaining a nursing Degree from St. Joseph‘s School of Nursing. She was the youngest of the graduating Class of 1944. Pat practiced nursing in Vancouver and Toronto. In 1947, Pat married John “Jack” Flaherty and eventually left nursing to raise her family. Pat later returned to nursing and retired in 1986 as Director of Nursing at Pinewood Court. Pat was actively involved in the St Agnes Parish community and the Catholic Women‘s League, recently receiving her 50 year CWL pin. Pat enjoyed many interests but her primary focus was always her children and her beautiful grandchildren. “Nanny” was always a special part of their lives. “Nanny” will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Tim, Terry (Shirley), Jane (Tom) Joss, David (Gina); grandchildren Megan and Eric Flaherty; Michael, Matthew (Kelsey), Christopher and Stephen Joss; Donald (Candy) Harris; Mary and Taylor Flaherty; and great grandchildren Chiara and Cruz Harris. Many nieces and nephews will also remember their Aunt Pat. Pat was predeceased by her husband Jack Flaherty; parents Rachael and Frank Taylor; brothers Bernard (Ruth), Reginald (Harriet), and Phillip; sisters Rev. Sister Mona Taylor and Frances (Terry) Batters. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 10th, 2008, where family and friends will gather for the funeral mass in St Agnes Church at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Pat‘s memory to the George Jeffrey Children‘s Foundation. A tree will be planted in memory of Patricia Flaherty in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 28, 2009.
