Margaret-Mary-Peggy Mills, born in 1927, spouse of Norman-E. Mills, daughter of Thomas and Marian, mother of Dave, Douglasville, Ga, Danny, Jacksonville, Mike, Suwanee, Missy and Marietta, died on June 22, 2014 at 86 years old.
MILLS Margaret Mary Peggy Mills, 86, passed away in Jacksonville, Fl, on June 22, 2014. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Marian Davenport, and by her sister, Patricia Amatruda. Peggy was born in Orange, NJ on December 7, 1927. She went to secretarial school after graduation from Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth, NJ. She worked for various companies in New York City and enjoyed traveling. She met and married Norman Mills in 1956. After beginning their married life in Miami Beach, they moved to Jacksonville in 1957. Peggy and Norman enjoyed family life and an active social life, which was centered around playing bridge and supporting their children and grandchildren in sports and other endeavors. They enjoyed their time together dearly, and loved time spent with family and friends. They were avid travelers and eventually accomplished their goal of visiting all 50 states. Peggy was a devout Catholic and long-time member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she served in and led many ministries. At Christ the King she was part of the first Ordained Group of Eucharistic Ministers, President of the Christ the King Guild, and Spiritual Leader of the Prayer Network which is still growing due to her long time dedication. Her commitment and leadership has left a legacy at her beloved Church. More recently, she was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 58 years, Norman E. Mills. She is also survived by sons Dave (Teresa), Douglasville, GA; Danny (Joy), Jacksonville; Mike (Patricia), Suwanee, GA; and daughter Missy Earley (John), Marietta, GA, as well as ten grandchildren: Daniel, Brian, Matthew, Lauren, Austin, Corey, Jane, Kevin, Rebecca and Jack; nephews Thomas and John Amatruda and their families; nieces Nancy Webb, Mimi Amatruda, Kitty Moots, and Sally Amatruda and their families. Peggy's love of family and friends was contagious, and she will be in hearts forever. She touched many lives, and will be greatly missed by her friends, family and all who were blessed to know her. Heaven has gained a special angel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 6pm-7pm, with the Rosary Service at 7:00pm at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 Arlington Road. A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00a.m. on June 27 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
