Obituary of Margaret-Mary Anderson

ANDERSON, Margaret Mary (nee Hogan) Died peacefully in the company of Nurse Prune on July 19, 2008. Beloved wife of Grey Ashton Anderson (deceased 1996) for 41 years. Survived by husband Walter Jakowec. Mother of Jerry (Barb), Bobbie (Ron Surgeoner), Rick (Renata) and Jim (Deborah). Loving Nanny to Chirysse, Luke, Maralee, Patrick, Sean, Harrison, Jack, Kristen, Matthew and Michael. Predeceased by parents Francis and Nina Hogan (nee Murphy) and siblings Harry, Helen, Dick and Sheila; survived by siblings Jerry, Betty and Joseph. Will be missed by her extended Jakowec family. Born on Wolfe Island, Marg was a natural caregiver healing the injured chickens on the family farm. She earned her RN designation from Hotel Dieu in Kingston and afterwards joined TCA as a stewardess where she met a young captain named Grey. Married in 1954 they settled in Hudson, Quebec where they gave life to 4 children before moving to Scarborough in 1969. Marg's distinguished 40 year career in geriatrics included Hopital de St. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec and Leisure World in Scarborough. A sports enthusiast, and former softball catcher, the Yankees and Habs and Tigers all have one less fan. After losing Grey to cancer, Marg settled in the Listowel area for several years. Fortunate to meet Walter later in her life, together they shared a wonderful love and companionship. Despite suffering from severe osteoporosis, Marg lived out the remainder of her life with the same passion, sense of adventure and indomitable spirit of her youth. Recent trips to the camp, Paris and a dream fulfilling cruise to Hawaii evidence that. Heartfelt thanks to all the angels at Knollcrest Lodge for their exceptional care and support during Mom's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations to Knollcrest Lodge Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, Milverton, ON 519-595-8203. Cremation, followed by private family Mass of the Resurrection of the Dead, and burial in Napanee, ON.
