DAVIS, MARGARET MARKELL, 49, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2005 after a very courageous three and one half year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of eighteen years, James (Jim) R. Davis, and her two treasured young children, Steven and Carrie-Lynn. She was born May 4, 1956 in Miami, FL to the late Wray G. Succop and Gwen (Lenkerd) Succop Randle. She is also survived by her stepfather, William Randle; her sister, Lynn Markell of Tallahassee; uncle, William Succop; and aunt Angie; uncle Charles Lenkerd and aunt Helen. She is predeceased by her father Wray G. Succop; father-in- law, Bob Davis, mother-in-law, Jean Davis, and leaves behind so many close cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who greatly adored her. Markell graduated from Palmetto High in 1974. In 1979, she received a BS degree from Florida International University where she majored in elementary education. In 1983 she earned a Masters of Education degree from Nova University and began her teaching career at Royal Green Elementary School in 1980. In 1982 she transferred to the then new Bent Tree Elementary, where she was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1988. In the year 2000 she moved to Coral Reef Elementary where she continued to teach until 2004. She dedicated her life to teaching her own two children as well as hundreds of children. Her philosophy of education was to teach the whole child. Her students loved her and many will especially remember the rich experiences she provided them through the plays she directed. Markell was always optimistic about her battle with cancer and never thought twice nor complained about all the infusions, chemo treatments or surgeries that she endured. Her family will forever be grateful to the friends, family, and Baptist Hospital nurses who took such good care of her. To those who knew and loved her, she will always be remembered for her caring and thoughtful ways, her gentle nature, her joyous laughter, pretty smile, dedication to her teaching career and deep love for family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church, 14401 Old Cutler Road. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Susan G.
