Maier, Margaret AVERILL PARK Margaret C. "Peggy" Kelly Maier, 79, of Bon Acre Way passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home on Thursday February 2, 2012. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine Gallagher Kelly and the beloved wife of Ernest J. Maier Sr. Peggy was a waitress for many years at the Volcano Restaurant in Troy and the Red Mill Manor in East Greenbush. Peggy had resided in East Greenbush before moving to Averill Park in 1970. Peggy was a bus driver for the Averill Park School District and at the age of 40 went to work for the US Postal Service. She was a Postmaster in New Lebanon N.Y. and then at the Sand Lake, N.Y. Post Office. She retired in 1991 after 21 years of service. Peggy was a member of the Melvin Roads American Legion Post # 1231 Ladies Auxiliary and the East Greenbush VFW Post # 7338 Auxiliary, both in East Greenbush and was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. Peggy was the mother of the late Robert Maier and sister of the late Bette Schmidlin, Barbara Nescott, Jack, James and William Kelly. Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Colleen (Dean) Barkman of Voorheesville, Wilma (Art) Mosley of Saratoga, Sharon (Fred) Finn, Monica (Jim) Hardy, Ernest J. (the late Judy) Maier Jr. and Frank (Pam) Maier, all of Averill Park, her sister Geraldine Muscatello of Wynantskill, her daughter-in-law, Margaret "Meg" Maier of Averill Park, 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday 9:30 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Rte. 66 (Co. Rte. 45) Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Relatives and Friends are invited and may also call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park on Friday (today) 4-7 p.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery East Schodack, N.Y.
