MARGARET M. HANSEN WANATAH, IN Margaret M. Hansen, 83, of Wanatah formerly of the Aetna neighborhood in Gary passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013. She was born August 4, 1930 in Gary, IN to Clarence R. and Iva M. (Parker) Bowen and graduated from Tolleston High School in 1948. Margaret had been a secretary for the housekeeping department at St. Mary's and St. Catherine's Hospitals for 17 years retiring in 1995. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ladies of Sacred Heart and their Quilt Club, the Red Hat Society and the Merrillville Pinochle Club. On January 27, 1951 she married George L. Hansen who survives along with their children: Sue Hansen (Bill Oberg) of Ft. Wayne, Pat (Ken) Eckel of Minnesota, George Hansen (Desi Kaminski) of Valparaiso, Bob (Kathy) Hansen of Illinois, Chris (Alex) Klefeker of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren: Kate, Brad, Alexis, Courtney and Ian; great grandson, Colin; sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Graden of Crown Point, Marge Hansen of Hobart, Sandy Weber of Portage; brother-in-law, Jack (Kathy) Hansen of Valparaiso; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Arts; and a brother-in-law, Ted Hansen. Family was very important to mom. She loved most when we were all together. She will be missed by all. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Wanatah Funeral Chapel, 309 N. Main St. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 202 N. Ohio St., Wanatah, Fr. Jerry Schweitzer officiating with burial at Calumet Park Cemetery.
