Margaret Evelyn Gantt Johnson - SAVANNAH - Margaret Evelyn Gantt Johnson, 83 was called to eternal rest on December 21, 2012 while visiting with her granddaughter, grandson and great-granddaughter in McDonough, GA. Born in Aiken S.C. on November 17, 1929 to the late Theodore and Pearl Gantt. The family moved to Savannah in 1936 where she attended the local school system. She was a graduate of Woodville Tompkins High School. Margaret obeyed the gospel on July 20, 1975 at the Church of Christ at Carver Village, now the Liberty City Church of Christ where she served as a faithful member until her death. She retired from Derst Baking Company as a machine operator after many years of service. Margaret was a committed wife to the late Willie Johnson. She was a loving mother to four children, two of whom preceded her in death Jacquelyn and Michael Garvin. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory a devoted family, one son Lawrence Garvin, one daughter Hazel Brown, one son-in-law Charles Brown and one daughter-in-law Marvalena Garvin, one sister Roberta Edwards, and one sister-in-law Carolyn Gantt; Six grandchildren Reginald and Kwesi Garvin, Kaia (Douglas) Lowe, Kimani (Victoria) Brown, Giovonne (James) Mikell, and Kalvinston Brown; Eleven great- grandchildren, Willie Lee, Diamond, Kyla, Donald, Kobie, Gregalyn, Paige, Karianna, Nazaree, Kimoria Bella, and Kristian, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. Visitation: 6:00 pm Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Chapel of Sexton-Hall Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Liberty City Church of Christ, 1709 Staley Avenue.
